The Wandering Local: Redefining the Dinner Party, One Unforgettable Setting at a Time
There's a particular kind of magic that happens when a beautifully set table meets an unexpected location, and nobody in the Upper Cumberland Region is doing it quite like The Wandering Local. In just a few short months, this small team has managed to create some of the most unique and memorable dinner experiences I've ever had the pleasure of attending. Each gathering has topped the last, which has made picking a favorite nearly impossible.

Where It All Began: Creekside at Fall Creek Falls
The Wandering Local's very first dinner set the tone for everything that would follow. Held creekside at Fall Creek Falls State Park, the setting alone did most of the talking. The table was beautifully decorated, and the natural scenery, the sound of the water, the surrounding trees — created a backdrop no indoor venue could ever replicate. It was the kind of evening that made you realize dinner could be so much more than a meal.

Gathered in Liberty: An America 250 Celebration
For their second dinner, The Wandering Local returned to Fall Creek Falls State Park, this time setting up outside the historic Liberty Hill School House for a "Gathered in Liberty" experience honoring America's upcoming 250th anniversary. The space was dressed in red, white, and blue, and the food was just as delicious as the decor was patriotic. As guests ate, they were treated to stories and history of the old schoolhouse itself, weaving education right into the evening. For a while, I was certain this one would be my favorite, and then the next dinner happened.

Gathered Underground: 333 Feet Below the Surface
If any dinner proved that The Wandering Local has no intention of playing it safe, it was Gathered Underground. In partnership with Visit McMinnville, this dinner took guests 333 feet below the surface into Cumberland Caverns in McMinnville. Moody lighting and elegant tablescapes transformed the cave into something straight out of a storybook. It's an experience that brought this kind of one-of-a-kind dining to locals, and it's safe to say no one who attended will ever forget it.

An Evening at Historic Falcon Rest Mansion
Most recently, The Wandering Local gathered in the garden at the Historic Falcon Rest Mansion in McMinnville, with dinner served out on the mansion's sprawling wrap-around porch. Beautiful flowers and blue tablescapes were chosen to match the mansion's aesthetic perfectly, tying the whole evening together with an elegance that felt effortless. It's become clear that the ladies behind The Wandering Local outdo themselves every single time, and this dinner left attendees speechless. The crowd included plenty of local faces, but also visitors who had driven hours to be there — proof that word of these experiences has traveled well beyond the Upper Cumberland Region.

What Makes It All Work
Behind every one of these evenings are the wonderfully kind women of The Wandering Local, whose attention to detail and genuine hospitality are what truly make each dinner special. It's not just the locations, though those are unforgettable, it's the care put into every flower, every place setting, every story shared at the table. I can't wait to see what they dream up next.
Up Next: Gathered in the Harvest
The final dinner of the fall season, Gathered in the Harvest, will take place at Cedarwood Pumpkin Patch in McMinnville on October 3rd. Picture autumn leaves, a cool breeze, pumpkins, warm cider, and good connection around the table, the perfect way to close out the season. Get your tickets now, because these events sell out fast. After that, we'll just have to wait and see where The Wandering Local wanders next.
